Hawkeye Community College nursing alumna and newly-elected Trustee Bridget Saffold established Focus on Diabetes in 2016 to provide diabetic education and awareness in the Cedar Valley of Iowa.
“My goal is to see health improvement in the Black Hawk County area,” she said. “People just need an avenue sometimes, and I think that’s where Focus on Diabetes really serves the community – by bridging them to the care that they need.”
A graduate of Practical Nursing (2007) and Associate Degree Nursing (2018), Saffold partners with Hawkeye and other community organizations every year to host free health screenings and diabetes education events.
